Visiting Yachts to Shetland

Home » Visiting Yachts to Shetland

Lerwick is a popular destination for yachts during the summer months, with visitors arriving from the UK, Scandinavia, the rest of Europe and beyond. Over 500 yachts visit Lerwick each year, which makes for a very colourful and lively waterfront. Many of the crews take the opportunity to explore Shetland’s 1700 miles of coastline. In addition long-established events, such as the Shetland-Bergen race, Dutch Triangle race and Round Britain and Ireland race, attract old friends and new faces.

Visiting yachts on arrival should contact Lerwick Port Authority. You will find out about harbour dues and obtain a key (subject to a £5 deposit), which provides you with access to the club. The following link detailing the facilities also has a map showing the location of Lerwick Boating Club. If no keys are available at the Lerwick Port Authority Harbour Office, please call along the clubhouse, during bar opening times, where we will issue you with a key.
