Lerwick Yoals
Lerwick Boating Club has two racing yoals. Both are painted in British racing green with a white water line and varnished interior.
“Scarfa” was launched in 1997 and “Siri”, in May 2012. Both yoals were built in Unst by William Mouat, using traditional methods i.e. clinker built in larch, with 6 planks and 6 oars. The yoals are 23 feet in length.
Yoal rowing is very much a social sport based on friendly competition. There are often different generations from the same family rowing for the same club!
